Lewis Hamilton has broken his social media silence and appears to be eyeing an F1 stay

It’s been a story that has dominated the Formula 1 off-season but it appears we now know that Lewis Hamilton is going to be remaining in the sport for the 2022 campaign, after he broke his social media silence on Saturday.

The 7-time champion had rather gone into hiding after the end of the 2021 season, with him cruelly denied a record-breaking 8th crown on the final lap of the final race, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after a controversial Safety Car call from Race Director Michael Masi.

At the time, Hamilton cut a classy figure to compose his thoughts and congratulate season-long foe Max Verstappen for his victory after the chequered flag, before saying ‘we’ll see about next year’ which had some thinking he might be considering his future there and then.

Indeed, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff had said that Lewis had grown disillusioned with the sport following on from the events at the Yas Marina circuit, sparking further speculation that the Briton might be planning on walking away from the grid ahead of the new campaign.

It appears, though, he is now ready for the challenges that await this season with him posting this message across social media, with a photo of him looking pretty happy:

Quite often we have seen Lewis using social media in the off-season to share all the activities he gets up to in terms of his training for new F1 seasons.

This year, though, we’ve obviously not seen that – though it seems fair to suggest he will have been training hard and is getting ready for another run at title number 8 in 2022.

That is great for the sport, too, as it would have been such a shame to see one of the icons of F1 bow out amid such contentious circumstances.
