Lewandowski won't be among La Liga's 9 best-paid players after taking huge pay-cut to join Barca

Barcelona announced the signing of Robert Lewandowski on Saturday afternoon.

Barca have agreed to pay Bayern Munich £42.5m for the Polish striker’s services.

He will join the La Liga giants pending signing of contracts and a successful medical.

“I will come back and say a proper goodbye to all the employees. I didn’t have much time to prepare for it,” Lewandowski told Sky Sport News in Germany on Saturday, per The Daily Mail.

“These eight years were special and you don’t forget that. I had a great time in Munich. I will fly soon, but after the training camp I will come back and say goodbye properly and organise a few more things.

“I said goodbye to the guys on the pitch today. I wasn’t worried about an injury in training. Something can happen to me at home. Wanted to keep fit and trained with the boys again.”

It’s well known that Barcelona are in all sorts of financial trouble.

And so Lewandowski, who is one of the best players in the world, has agreed to take a massive pay-cut in order to complete the move.

Marca revealed in March that Lewandowski was earning a gross salary of €23m-per-year at Bayern Munich.

Marca state that he will sign a contract until 2025 with a net salary of €9m-per-year at Barcelona, which works out to a gross salary of around €17.6m-per-year [€336,000-per-week], according to salaryaftertax.com.

That means Lewandowski has taken a mammoth €5.4m-per-year pay-cut to secure his dream move to Barcelona.

Marca also revealed the highest-paid La Liga players back in March. And Lewandowski has taken such a massive pay-cut that he does not feature among the top nine.
