Leinster wait and see with Lowe but Kiwi showing great 'body language'

James Lowe won't lack for motivation to return for Leinster and Ireland as soon as possible, according to Robin McBryde.

The wing suffered a hamstring injury just before Andy Farrell named his squad for the Guinness Six Nations.

A star of the November series, including a famous victory over his native New Zealand, the 29-year-old's absence has been cushioned by the emergence of Mack Hansen.

The Canberra-born Connacht back has been thrust into the frontline by Farrell and picked up a man of the match award on his debut against Wales, and scored his first international try against France on Saturday with an audacious piece of skill.

The URC champions never rush players back ahead of time but McBryde, the former Wales hooker now an assistant with Leinster, said they would see how the Kiwi goes at training this week ahead of their home match against Ospreys on Saturday (5pm, live on RTÉ2).

"It's very hard to [know] with James, he’s always full of life, he’s never short of a word or two," said McBryde, whose side beat Edinburgh 26-7 at the weekend.

"His body language is great and that’s all I can comment on really. We just have to wait to see how he gets on this week.

"You’d like to think [he’d be back as soon as possible].

"The motivation of getting back into a Leinster team and then, who knows, if he proves his fitness as regards to Ireland as well.

"The motivation is there for every player but especially someone like James who offers something different as well. It would be great to see him back."

Leo Cullen's side will also have the considerable talents of Cian Healy, Ryan Baird and Jordan Larmour (above) to call upon for the RDS clash.
