Leigh Wood vs Mauricio Lara ring walk, start time, TV channel and live stream

Leigh Wood will be hoping that he can do what Josh Warrington could not as he aims to beat Mauricio Lara in defence of his WBA featherweight world title.

The fight takes place in Nottingham, with Wood hoping to avoid defeat against the dangerous Lara, who beat Warrington in 2021 before drawing with the Leeds Warrior in a rematch. He has since won two further fights against Emilio Sanchez and José Sanmartin to earn what is an exciting world title fight.

Wood, meanwhile faces the third defence of his title after beating Michael Conlan nearly a year ago and will be hoping that the time without a fight will not hold him back against an opponent who has won 18 of his fights via knockout.

Ahead of the fight, Wood said: “It has been a long journey to get here. I was that little kid trying to get a slot of the Froch undercards. I’ve come a long way since then. There’s nothing that’s going to beat me on Saturday night, nothing at all.

"There’s nothing that he can bring that I’m not prepared for. He’s ready for war but I’m ready for a smart tactical knockout. I think the underdog mentality going into a fight does help a little bit but it’s more about having that danger."

Here is all of the information you will need ahead of the fight:

The fight takes place on Saturday, February 18 with the card at the Motorpoint Arena getting underway at 6pm, with ring walks for the main event expected at 10:30pm.

You can watch the fight on the DAZN streaming platform, with monthly prices starting from £9.99. You can sign up to DAZN here.
