Leigh Centurions line up Warrington Wolves' England international prop for 2023

Leigh Centurions' recruitment plans for 2023 have seen them turn to Warrington Wolves forward Rob Mulhern. Rugby League Live understands the Centurions are very keen on the prop, who will leave the Wire at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old has been unable to come to terms on a deal with the Wolves and, following their spending spree within the pack, his future at the Halliwell Jones Stadium is coming to an end.

That has seen several clubs express interest but it is a move to LSV that appears the most likely. Leigh are building a squad ready for Super League with the expectation that they will be promoted at the end of the current season.

That recruitment drive has seen them sign a number of Warrington players. Matt Davis and Jack Hughes are understood to have agreed deals with the club while Josh Charnley has already arrived at LSV in order to bolster their promotion hopes.

Leigh are being proactive in their efforts to recruit domestically. They currently have 13 quota players in their squad, six more than permitted in Super League. As a result, they are looking at the British market to strengthen their squad at present.

Mulhern, in that sense, fits the bill. An England international, he came through the ranks at Leeds Rhinos and then established himself at Hull KR. It was during his time at Craven Park that he earned international honours, playing for England in 2018.

A move to Warrington came to fruition in 2021 and despite being a regular during his two seasons with the club, he is set to depart. Warrington have already signed Paul Vaughan, Josh McGuire, Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson to spruce up their pack next season.
