Leicester: Rodgers has 'earned right to stay' at King Power

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has ‘earned the right’ to try and turn things around at the club, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Northern Irish tactician has come under pressure in recent weeks following a hugely disappointing start to the season but is seemingly set to take charge against Nottingham Forest on Monday.

Rodgers arrived at Leicester back in February 2019 following a hugely impressive two-and-a-half-year spell with Glasgow giants Celtic.

And the 49-year-old was able to replicate that success at the King Power Stadium, guiding the Foxes to consecutive fifth-placed finishes in the Premier League as well as their maiden FA Cup crown.

Silverware in the Community Shield followed at the start of last season, yet Leicester’s fortunes have taken a dramatic turn for the worse this time around.

In their opening seven top-flight fixtures, the Midlands outfit have picked up just a solitary point and are marooned at the bottom of the table with a goal difference of -22 as a result.

And Leicester’s problems are also mounting off the pitch as they are expected to post a loss of £119.5 million which resulted in them spending just £15m on one player over the summer transfer window.

Jones reckons Rodgers deserves a chance to transform Leicester’s fortunes but has also questioned where the ex-Liverpool chief’s motivation is going to come from.
