Leicester City's Youri Tielemans 'listening for opportunities' amid Arsenal interest

Leaving Leicester City this summer is “not out of the question” for midfielder Youri Tielemans as he "listen to other opportunities".

The Belgian’s future has been a prominent topic of discussion for more than 12 months and a conclusion is expected this summer, with the 25-year-old likely to leave the King Power Stadium, where he only has one year left on his contract.

Arsenal appear to be the frontrunners to sign Tielemans, with City likely to be open to a sale if he continues to resist signing a new contract. If the midfielder stays but does not pen a new deal, he would leave on a free transfer next year.

Tielemans spoke about his future with Belgian media on Tuesday ahead of his country’s Nations League clash with Poland. While he said he feels comfortable at City, he is keeping his options open and listening out for other opportunities.

Asked if he could leave City, Tielemans said: “That is not out of the question. I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I give everything for the club until the last day.

“But of course you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.”

Tielemans was an unused substitute last Friday as Roberto Martinez’s Belgium lost 4-1 to neighbours the Netherlands. If he plays against Poland on Wednesday night, it will be his 57th appearance for club and country of the season.

He said: “I'm still very fresh, I'm trying to do everything I can to get ready for the games. That's all you can do as a player. It's no secret that there are a lot of games, but I'm just really happy to be with the national team. We knew more games were coming.”
