Leicester City receive fresh transfer 'offer' as seven handed new contracts

It has been 24 hours since the summer transfer window opened and Leicester City are set to have an exciting few months ahead of them before the Premier League season gets started.

Leicester City have offered seven young players new contracts, their retained list has revealed.

City’s rundown of who is staying and who is leaving when deals expire on June 30 was published on Friday afternoon, with third-choice goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic heading a list of six players to be let go. Right-back Vontae Daley-Campbell and striker Jake Wakeling were also included.

The retained list published by City also showed that attacking midfielder Callum Wright and centre-back Bayli Spencer-Adams had their contracts extended. But the Premier League’s more complete list shows seven other young players have been offered new deals by the club.

Of the septet, three are professionals, including Welsh midfielder Oli Ewing. The 19-year-old, who was on the bench for the Europa League defeat at Napoli and the home Conference League win over Randers, played 15 of 26 Premier League 2 fixtures for City this season.

Leicester City ace Youri Tielemans may not be the only Belgian international heading to Arsenal this summer. Tielemans has been reported as Mikel Arteta's number one target this summer as the Spaniard looks to compete for a top European spot this season.

The 25-year-old has not signed a contract to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium beyond the summer of 2023, but new negotiations between the Foxes and Arsenal are expected imminently.
