Leicester City have been handed 'vital' boost ahead of Manchester United clash

Former Leicester City striker Paul Dickov has said that getting players back from injury will be "vital" for Leicester City in their end of season run-in.

City have been dealt more than their fair share of injury worries this season, especially in defensive areas. At one point at the start of the year, Brendan Rodgers had just one fit centre-back in Jannik Vestergaard to call on.

The picture is now looking better. Wesley Fofana made his long-awaited return from a broken leg and ankle ligament damage in the Europa Conference League clash against Rennes last week, while both Jonny Evans and Timothy Castagne made their comebacks in Sunday’s win over Brentford.

It is hoped that other players, including Jamie Vardy, could be closing in on a return after the international break too. It means that City will have a strong squad to choose from for the Premier League clash against Manchester United.

Brendan Rodgers has said that the returning players will 'galvanise' the squad. That's something Dickov agrees with, saying that the number of injuries have played a big part in City’s slower than usual start to the season.

“I'm not making excuses for them, but they've had a lot of injuries and they've been horrific really,” he said, courtesy of OLBG. “Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana, the number of goals that they've conceded from set pieces is ridiculous, you can't defend like that.
