Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers reveals Jamie Vardy injury update for Aston Villa clash

Aston Villa travel to Leicester City this weekend in a bid to get back to wining ways in the Premier League.

Steven Gerrard's side are currently on their longest losing run since the former Rangers boss took over at Villa Park in November. His arrival came off the back of the club losing five matches in a row under Dean Smith, who was subsequently sacked.

Villa currently find themselves in 15th place, but a first win since March at the King Power could be the tonic for a strong end to the season. After this weekend, only six games remain for Gerrard to help the club achieve a top half finish for the first time in a decade.

But Leicester are also in need of a positive result having only won once in their last four league games. Though, Brendan Rodgers' side have been buoyed by the return of Jamie Vardy, who has joined the Foxes' training sessions ahead of this weekend's clash.

The striker has been out of the side for several weeks after suffering with a knee problem, which Rodgers now hopes will have been put to bed. Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Everton last time out, Rodgers gave a promising update on his star striker. "He's looking good," Rodgers said. "He's joining the squad tomorrow (Thursday) for training, which is great news for us. He gives us that extra dimension at the top end of the field."

Though, the game against Villa could come too soon for the former England international to start only his second match of the calendar year. In his absence, Patson Daka is expected to lead the line for the Foxes.
