Leicester City & Aston Villa 'strongly appreciate' midfielder revitalised since leaving Man City

Leicester City and Aston Villa are both interested in former Manchester City midfielder Seko Fofana, according to reports.

The 26-year-old, of no relation to City defender Wesley, plies his trade in Ligue 1 with RC Lens and has surpassed all expectations with his performances for the French side.

So much so, he has caught the eye of Leicester City and Aston Villa, according to But! Football Club. The two clubs "strongly appreciate" him as a player, though no potential transfer fee was mentioned.

Fofana has two years left on his contract at Lens, so may not come cheap, though that would be expected given his form in recent months. He has scored seven goals in 33 appearances from central midfield this season.

He might be familiar to English football fans from the three years he spent at Manchester City as part of their under-21 team. He also had a loan spell at Fulham in the Championship before joining Udinese on a permanent basis.

If he were to come to Leicester - and he fits the profile in terms of what Rodgers is looking for - he would likely be seen as a permanent replacement for Hamza Choudhury or Dennis Praet, both of whom look likely to leave this summer.
