Leicester City announce 2022-23 season ticket price rise as seven-year freeze ends

The price of Leicester City season tickets will rise for the first time since the club’s return to the Premier League.

City season tickets for the 2022-23 campaign will go on sale from Tuesday, May 17, and will see an average price increase of five per cent around the stadium, with most seats costing between £20 and £35 more than last season. Not since City were promoted to the Premier League in 2014 have the club raised their season-ticket prices.

It means City’s cheapest season ticket for renewals has now risen from £365 to £385. For fans applying for season tickets, the cheapest seat will be £435, as prices for new holders have gone up by an average of 10 per cent, which will also be the case for matchday tickets.

The club’s chief executive Susan Whelan said the decision has “not been taken lightly”, especially amid the cost-of-living crisis in the UK. But she added that “it’s important we seek to optimise revenues” in order to “regularly compete with our Premier League rivals”.

As part of their season-ticket announcement, City also announced a new scheme to help seat-holders earn back money for matches they cannot attend. The Ticket Resale Platform will allow season-ticket holders to sell their seat and receive 1/19th of the cost back, although this will only be allowed a maximum of three times per season.

The club will also be introducing a season-long trial of the singing section at the King Power Stadium, which will be based in SK1 of the Kop, following successes over the past couple of years, including against Rennes and Roma this term. A club survey said the permanent introduction of a singing section was supported by 87 per cent of fans.

Season-ticket holders will be able to apply for relocation to the area
