LEGO unveils amazing Optimus Prime set

LEGO has announced its next set and it’s an absolutely awesome one for any Transformers fans, as Optimus Prime is coming!

There have been rumours of a tie-in between the two huge brands and we’ve now got confirmation that this is really happening.

LEGO tweeted on Wednesday a very simple tease with the words “begin the epic build.”

There was also a short video to go along with the tweet, saying “It’s Lego Optimus Prime Time!”

There was also a release date, included, with Optimus Prime set to be available for purchase from June 2022.

There was no specific date included in the video but, per Gamesradar, we now have confirmation that it is set to roll out on June 1.

The set, naturally, isn’t cheap, and is set to be £149.99 in the UK, $169.99 in the US, and €169.99 in European countries.

The LEGO Transformers Optimus Prime is based on the very first generation version of the character, as opposed to the recent or upcoming movies of the same name.

There is an upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts movie coming and it remains to be seen if LEGO release some sort of tie-in down the road.

The set is a staggering 1,508 pieces and can, naturally, transform. It can change between two different models, from a robot to a truck and back again.

It is 35cm tall when it’s Optimus Prime and 15cm high when it’s a truck.

In addition to that there are a number of additions to the set along with the base pieces for Optimus himself.

There is the ion blaster that goes with him, the Energon axe, an Energon Cube, as well as the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. There is also a plaque to go with it that shows who he is, his rank among the Autobots, and a really cool illustration of Optimus Prime.

As memorabilia goes, this is an absolutely awesome
