Leeds United's predicted XI to face Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa side

Aston Villa are set to take on Leeds United side tomorrow as the preparations for the 2022/23 season continue and here is how Jesse Marsch's side could line-up.

Villa will be looking to build on an impressive 4-0 win in their first friendly of the summer last weekend, which saw Leon Bailey, Cameron Archer, Douglas Luiz and Ollie Watkins all get on the scoresheet. The clash against Leeds marks the start of Villa's pre-season tour of Australia, with fixtures against Brisbane Roar and Manchester United scheduled to be played in the coming week.

Speaking to Villa TV ahead of the fixture, Gerrard assessed the pre-season training where he highlighted how 'positive' the trip to Australia has been so far. He said: “We’ve had a really strong week, really positive. I’m really happy with what I’ve seen on the football pitch and also the application and commitment off the pitch in terms of gym work and listening in the classroom.

“This has been an opportunity for us to really revisit our style and our philosophy of how we want to play over the course of the season.

“Every single one of the players has been all in both on and off the pitch, so I’m delighted with where we are. We’re a bit further forward than I imagined when we came out. We’ve got one more session prior to Leeds and we’re looking forward to the test against Leeds.”

Looking into tomorrow's opponents, goalkeeper Illan Meslier looks set to be involved for the first time this summer after missing the first friendly Down Under against Brisbane Roar last Thursday. He reportedly 'trained well' on Saturday in front of supporters and will almost 'certainly' get his first minutes of the trip between the sticks.
