Leeds United eye transfer approach for Middlesbrough ace

Leeds United are said to be interested in signing Middlesbrough full back Djed Spence next summer, as per a recent report by GiveMeSport.

The Whites are said to have been keen on signing a young right back during the transfer window just gone, however Marcelo Bielsa was ultimately unable to make any January additions.

This hasn’t stopped Leeds from keeping tabs on Spence, who continues to impress on loan at Nottingham Forest this season.

Now it appears that the Premier League side could firm up their interest in the player once again by making a move for him at the end of the current campaign, with transfer insider Dean Jones telling GiveMeSport:

“Leeds was the other club I was told, so someone like Leeds, he fits in perfectly, but it comes down to the player and how he sees his ambition.”

Spence is still under contract with Middlesbrough until the summer of 2023 and is yet to really make it clear as to where he sees his long term future lying.

Both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are said to be interested in signing the London born defender.

The Verdict

Middlesbrough will no doubt regret their decision to loan out Spence to a league rival and could even be resigned to selling the player in the summer.

At this stage of his career the right back is already attracting interest from the top level and is likely to be advised to pursue a move away from the Riverside Stadium when the campaign finishes.

He is sure to not be short on suitors if he continues to hit form for the rest of the season, with his attacking performances certainly catching the eye for Forest.

Make no mistake, this has been a real breakthrough campaign for a player that was wrongly tossed aside by Neil Warnock at Boro.
