Leeds supporters will love what Kalvin Phillips has just revealed - opinion

Leeds United fans will be delighted with what Kalvin Phillips has had to say on the mentality and thought process within the club’s squad.

When Marcelo Bielsa was sacked by the Leeds United board it seemed as if the club were heading back into the Championship, having just conceded 20 goals in the month of February, however, Jesse Marsch has come in and halted the slide and got his team on a four-game unbeaten run.

While some fans may have been very worried about the future of Leeds and which league they may have been playing in next season, it doesn’t appear that any of the players within the squad and dressing room shared those same fears.

Speaking to LUTV (via the Yorkshire Evening Post), Phillips revealed: “We don’t really speak in the group as if we are going to go down or there’s a chance of us going down. We are always confident and that’s the way it should be.

“I don’t think we should ever speak about there’s a chance that we might go down, but we know we’ve got important games to come towards the end of the season so we just need to do better than the teams around us and, hopefully, we can finish off the season well.”

TIF Thoughts on Phillips’ comments…

Leeds fans will be delighted with Phillips’ comments as it shows how strong this squad are mentally, even when it appeared that everything was against them like form, injuries and results – something that arguably means more than natural ability, especially down the bottom in a relegation fight.

It should come as little surprise that Leeds have managed to drag themselves nine points clear of the bottom three if this is the mentality that this squad had and that they were never even entertaining the fact that relegation could be a possibility.
