Leeds ‘ready to get deal done’ for £30m striker at Elland Road

Leeds United are ‘ready to get a deal done’ for Club Bruges striker Charles De Ketelaere, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 21-year-old appears to be closing in on a switch to Serie A champions AC Milan, but Leeds are also known to be eager to snap up the highly-rated star.

Phil Hay of The Athletic recently reported that Leeds ‘are pursuing’ De Ketelaere and view the versatile forward as a secondary striker or a false nine.

Transfer guru and reliable reporter Fabrizio Romano then disclosed that the west Yorkshire outfit had submitted a €35 million (£29.8m) for the Belgium international and were ‘waiting’ for a response from his club.

It was also stated that Milan are ‘in talks’ with Club Bruges over a potential deal and that De Ketelaere is ‘giving priority’ to the Italian giants.  

Romano then provided an update on the youngster’s situation, though, revealing that the Rossoneri are ‘getting closer’ to signing De Ketelaere after agreeing personal terms with the player.

Nevertheless, Milan has been unable to get deals for Sven Botman and Renato Sanches over the line already this summer, potentially providing Leeds with some hope that a switch is still on the cards.

Jones has informed GiveMeSport that he believes if Milan’s deal for De Ketelaere ‘collapses’, then Leeds ‘will get him’ as they are ‘willing to pay him exactly what he wants’.

He told GMS: “We still have to assume that Milan get him, they are the firm favourites, but Leeds are ready. If they don’t sign him, then Leeds are ready to get a deal done.

“We’re talking probably in the region of £30 million; Leeds have got that to spend, they know the terms of his contract, they are willing to pay him exactly what he wants. So, this deals ready to be signed off.
