Leeds must finally brutally axe "shocking" £7.2m-rated dud who once left Bielsa fuming - opinion

A number of players are facing the exit door at Leeds United this summer with influential players in the shape of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha nearing permanent departures.

However, there could still be other exits on the cards.

Another player who could depart Elland Road in the coming days is Tyler Roberts.

The £7.2m-rated talent joined from West Brom as a teenager but it’s not quite happened for him in Yorkshire and thus, is now on the verge of leaving.

That’s according to the Yorkshire Evening Post who claim he’s set to seal a loan move away this week with both Hull City and QPR interested in securing his services for a year.

A loan move will not really hurt any party involved but surely this is the summer where Leeds look to ship Roberts on permanently?

The Welshman has struggled for form and was presented with a wonderful opportunity to stake his claim last term in the absence of Patrick Bamford who spent large portions of the campaign on the treatment table.

Roberts couldn’t take his chance, scoring just twice in 27 outings across all competitions. He also only assisted one goal from a multitude of attacking roles.

His form the previous campaign under Marcelo Bielsa wasn’t very profitable either with Roberts finding the net just once in senior football.

With that in mind, it’s hardly a surprise that he once left the Argentine coach rather livid with his performances. As Leeds miraculously beat Manchester City in April 2021, Bielsa was left visibly frustrated by Roberts.
