Leeds: Fresh update on futures of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips

Confidence is growing that Leeds United will be able to keep Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips at Elland Road beyond the end of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The duo have been the subject of interest thanks to being among the Whites’ star performers, but it appears head coach Jesse Marsch – who only came into the job at the end of last month – could succeed ensuring they remain on the Yorkshire giants’ books.

Raphinha has been a revelation since joining Leeds in a £17million deal from Rennes in 2020, with the winger racking up 27 goal contributions in 59 appearances.

That form resulted in West Ham United lodging a £50million bid for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window, but the Whites did not hesitate in rejecting the proposal.

The east Londoners do not appear to be Raphinha’s only admirers as Football.London have claimed Arsenal may look to add Raphinha to their squad if Leeds fail to avoid the drop, while Chelsea were recently understood to be keeping tabs on the Brazilian.

Barcelona have already made their move by tabling a bid worth in excess of £29million, according to Spanish sources.

West Ham are also keen on Phillips and are expected to return with a fresh offer after £50million proved not to be enough for the Elland Road outfit to entertain parting ways with the 19-cap England international.

Aston Villa are thought to be the frontrunners for the central midfielder’s signature as they are prepared to pay up to £60million and offer a lucrative salary, but Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with Phillips as well.
