'Leeds feel...' - Journalist now drops major injury twist after what he's heard from Thorp Arch

Journalist David Anderson has revealed that Leeds United feel Patrick Bamford could recover from injury in time for their final three Premier League games.

Jesse Marsch was handed an injury boost shortly after taking over at Elland Road, with Bamford returning to full training for the first time since December.

The 28-year-old made his return against Aston Villa and started in wins over Norwich City and Wolves. The victory at Molineux came at a cost, though, with Bamford forced off in the first half with a reoccurrence of a foot problem.

Leeds have since confirmed that he has ruptured his plantar fascia and looks set to be sidelined for six weeks.

Anderson took to Twitter on Monday lunchtime to provide an update on the forward.

He revealed that there is now hope from those at Thorp Arch that Bamford could be available for the club’s last three games against Arsenal, Brighton and Brentford.

“Leeds feel Patrick Bamford’s could recover from his foot injury for their last three games in May. Also Raphinha, Phillips, Cooper, Llorente, Klich and Meslier should all be back for Southampton on Saturday.”

Marsch will be hoping that his side have enough points on the board before the final three games. If the Whites are all but safe, then it could make sense for Bamford to continue his recovery with a view to making a full return in pre-season.

The last thing Marsch needs is to spend his summer fretting whether the England international can be relied upon for the 2022/23 campaign.

The Leeds boss has already learned first-hand that there is every chance of a setback if he’s brought back too soon, so it could be best to bring him back in the summer.
