Leeds 'could take £70m loss' at Elland Road this summer

Leeds United will suffer an ‘absolute disaster’ if relegation leads to Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha and Patrick Bamford sealing cut-price exits from Elland Road, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Whites are at serious risk of losing their Premier League status and dropping into the Championship heading into the final weeks of the campaign.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has written release clauses into numerous top stars’ contracts and, as a result, the Whites are facing a mass exodus if they are relegated.

The report suggests Phillips, Raphinha and Bamford will be available for modest fees averaging close to £30million if they are consigned to the drop.

That would be a huge blow to Leeds, particularly with them turning down £50million bids for Phillips and Raphinha from Premier League rivals West Ham United during the January transfer window.

Relegation to the Championship is a distinct possibility as Leeds are in the dreaded drop zone with just three fixtures still to play.

It means Jesse Marsch – who was appointed as the Yorkshire giants’ head coach in February – is running out of time to turn the Whites’ fortunes around.

Jones believes Leeds are facing up to the prospect of a disastrous situation and hinted the Whites may be regretting their decision not to accept West Ham’s lucrative offers for Phillips and Raphinha.
