Leeds: Contract talks with £63k-a-week star have stalled at Elland Road

Leeds United and Raphinhahave had no further contract negotiations, according to insider Dean Jones.

The Brazilian was thought to have been in discussions with the club over a new deal earlier this year, but nothing has been signed, and Jones is now expecting him to depart Elland Road at the end of the season.

According to GOAL, Raphinha has agreed personal terms with Barcelona ahead of a potential move to the Camp Nou this summer.

However, the same outlet says the Spanish side still have a lot of work to do before signing the 25-year-old winger.

The above comes after Leeds’ attempts to tie Raphinha down to a new contract after an impressive debut season in England, where he scored six goals and provided nine assists.

In January, The Athletic‘s Phil Hay reported that the Whites were making good progress in their mission to get Raphinha to sign on the dotted line, but it now appears that they have hit an impasse.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Leeds’ contract negotiations with Raphinha have come to a halt and now expects the Brazil international to leave Elland Road.

Speaking to GMS, the insider said: “There’s been no further contract negotiations or advancement on encouraging him to stay so, as it stands, I would imagine that Raphinha leaves.”

If he was going to put pen to paper on an extension, then he probably would have done it by now.

It is quite clear that the former Rennes man is holding out for a move to Barcelona, and if that does not happen for whatever reason, an exit still looks to be on
