Lee Bowyer handed boost as player returns to Birmingham City training

Birmingham City forward Troy Deeney is back in training with the club after an injury lay-off, in a boost to Lee Bowyer’s squad.

The Blues are not in immediate threat of relegation with a little gap between them and the bottom sides but they are not safe either, and need to keep getting results on the board.

A loss at home to Sheffield United did not help their cause last Friday, of course, but there are still plenty of opportunities coming up for them to try and right that particular wrong.

Deeney will be looking to help his hometown club where he can in the run-in, too, with him returning to training – as per the Birmingham official Twitter page:
