Huddersfield Town receive potential double boost ahead of Birmingham City trip

High-flying Huddersfield Town could welcome back two first-team players for their trip Birmingham City this weekend.

Blues host Carlos Corberan's side at St Andrew's on Saturday looking to grab their first win in eight Championship games.

The Terriers, on the other hand, are in terrific form having gone 16 games unbeaten in all competitions as they look to continue their bid to qualify for this season's play-offs.

Town boss Corberan revealed on Friday that he has no new injury concerns ahead of the 3pm kick-off, and he might even welcome back centre-half Tom Lees and right-back Pipa pending a late fitness checks.

Lees suffered a gashed head in Wednesday evening’s dramatic victory over Cardiff City and was left bleeding after being caught by a Jordan Hugill elbow late in the game, but was able to complete the game after being heavily bandaged up.

Pipa has missed almost five months of the season after having surgery on a more major groin injury in August, but is close to a return.

"We need to check how Tom Lees is from the head wound he received but that's normal and he's training as normal," Corberan told YorkshireLive .

On Pipa, the Spaniard said: "He'll train today and depending how he does will determine if he can be involved tomorrow."

Ryan Schofield (shoulder), Alex Vallejo (knee) and Rolando Aarons (knee) are long-term absentees who won't feature on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Birmingham boss Lee Bowyer revealed that Tahith Chong is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from a long-term groin injury and could return to the matchday squad against Huddersfield after playing with the U23's for 45 minutes on Monday.
