League Two round-up: Carlisle, Hartlepool and Rochdale amongst the busiest clubs

Grimsby Town’s League Two rivals have continued to be busy in preparation for the 2022/23 League Two campaign, which is now a fortnight away.

But which clubs have been the most active over the past couple of days?

Carlisle United have announced the signing of Nottingham Forest right back Finley Back on a season-long loan with the 19-year-old highly rated at the City Ground.

The youngster signed his first professional deal with Forest in 2019, having joined their academy aged eight, and went on to make five senior appearances under Steve Cooper last term as the Reds secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 1997.

On the new addition, Carlisle manager Paul Simpson told the club’s official website: “He’s a player who is really keen to be involved in first-team football. He’s got loads of energy and a fantastic attitude.”

Colchester United have signed midfielder Ossama Ashley after the 22-year-old left West Ham United at the end of last season.

Describing himself as a “physical player” to the club’s official website, Ashley has signed a one-year deal after impressing in friendly matches and training over the past two weeks.

Hartlepool United have confirmed the addition of striker Josh Umerah to their ranks for an undisclosed fee from National League outfit Wealdstone.

The 25-year-old scored an impressive 17 goals in 43 appearances in the fifth tier last term as Wealdstone finished 16th.

Pools’ new number nine told the club’s website: “All I want to do is score goals and succeed for the team. I am excited to meet the fans and get started with the season just around the corner."
