Lazio confirm new bid for Mason Greenwood after Manchester United agree fee with rivals
Lazio president Claudio Lotito has confirmed that his club have tabled a new £21m bid for Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood.
The offer includes a 50 per cent sell-on clause for United. However, United have agreed a £26.7m deal with Marseille, albeit personal terms yet to be agreed with the club facing pushback from some fans and civic leaders over the potential move.
Greenwood had been arrested over sexual assault charges in January 2022 before these were dropped in February 2023. He has always denied the allegations. After receiving backlash for attempting to reintegrate him into the squad, United stated in August that Greenwood, 22, would continue his career elsewhere.

A loan spell at Spanish club Granada was secured, where his 10 goals across the last campaign caught the interest of several European clubs. Lazio are one of them, and they have upped their bid from an initial reported £17m offer.
Speaking to Italian outlet Il Messaggero, as relayed by Sosfanta, club chief Lotito accused two Italian rivals of trying to scupper a deal. “I offered 25 million [euros] plus 50 per cent of the resale, plus bonuses and commissions,” he confirmed.
“Yet several companies have slipped in to do a disruptive action. After Juventus, Napoli, it seems that everyone is jinxing it, they are terrified that we can take him and they want to ruin everything.”
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport claims Lazio have decided that they will withdraw their interest in the next few days if an agreement with United is not reached. It says Lazio are eager to hear back from the club and the player’s camp
