Lawrence Shankland 'head turned' by Rangers prospect floated as Hearts transfer exit comes down to one key factor

A lucrative January proposal from Rangers could make Lawrence Shankland's head turn.

That's the view of former Light Blues star Lee McCulloch, who reckons his old club must go all out to sign the Hearts striker. Shankland has scored 41 times from 71 games since returning to the Scottish Premiership following a troubled spell at Belgian outfit Beerschot. The 28-year-old also netted for Scotland during a recent Euro 2024 qualifier and with Rangers decimated by injuries to Kemar Roofe and Danilo up front, Shankland appears a perfect option in their absence.

McCulloch wants the transfer to happen and believes Rangers could put him in an uncomfortable position. He told PLZ Soccer: "I think the situation is, Hearts are pretty cash rich, there's a lot of money in the board room. So, they won't sell him short, but it will all come down to Lawrence Shankland as well.

"That's why I think if another team, let's say, puts an offer in and Lawrence head is turned, it might put them in a difficult situation."
