Law and District Athletics Club scoop medals aplenty amid busy period

Law and District Amateur Athletics Club have had a busy couple of weeks, with sprinters and distance runners competing at different venues at the end of the indoor athletics and cross country season.

Young sprinters competed in the 4 x 200m relay finals of the indoor league on Sunday, March 6, with five of their seven teams medalling.

Their under-13 boys’ team of Luke Evans, Gabriel Calderwood, Cameron Chambers and Jack Duffin won gold.

Law’s under-13 girls’ team of Isla Cameron, Lily McManus, Eilidh Cameron and Sophie Todd won silver.

Silver also went to the delighted under-15 boys’ team of Jak Weir, Callum Hall, John Frood and Owen Murphy.

Their under-15 girls’ team went one better and won gold, as Laura Watson, Lauren McNair, Lucia McKenna and Tehillah Okonkwo proved to be the best in their field on the day.

Elsewhere, Law’s under-20 women’s team won silver, and set a new club record. The team consisted of Jade Gray, Sophie Evans, Rosie Watson and Leah Keisler who were delighted with their accomplishment.

Elsewhere, after the National Cross Country Championships in Falkirk on February 26, four young Law athletes were selected to represent West of Scotland at the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Championships in Loughborough on Saturday, March 12.

All four athletes had strong performances in large fields of 250 to 300 competitors, doing themselves and their club proud.

Ryan Kellock was 123rd in 4k; Jess Robson (u20) was 53rd in the 6k and Jessica Inglis was 32nd in 4k at under-15 level.
