Law and District athletes grab impressive medals haul at National Championships

Law and District Amateur Athletics Club won several medals at the Under-13, 15 and 20 National Championships in Aberdeen.

The weekend got off to a great start as under-15 athlete Johann Gillon won bronze in hammer with a new PB of 43.33m, and she later took bronze in discus in a very competitive event that saw club-mate Eva Gray win silver.

Jack Duffin took silver in under-15 boys’ javelin with a new PB of 30.60m, and Skye Davidson emulated the feat in the girls’ competition.

Under-20 athlete Miya Waldron won silver in javelin.

Anna Bondar won silver in under-15 shot put with a PB of 9.58m, while Roisin McClelland scooped silver in the under-13 event and Jade Gray bronze in the U20s.

Several other athletes did well over the weekend without winning medals.

In the under-15 girls’ high jump, Erin McGurk was just outside her PB with 1.34m, and Lucy Corns equalled her PB in long jump with 3.97m.

Eva Gray, India Woods, Sophie Todd and Mackenzie McHolm ran well in the 100m, and Luke Evans did well in the boys’ event.

In the 300m, Skye Davidson reached the final, finishing fifth, and Erin McGurk narrowly missed out on a place in the final.

Lucy Corns and Olivia Inglis achieved PBs in the under-15 800m, and in the boys’ event John Frood made it through to the final, finishing seventh. Frood also finished fourth in hammer.

Cameron Chamber missed out on the 800m final, but ran a PB, and also achieved a personal best of 1.54m in high jump.

Under-17 runner Jessica Inglis stepped up to the under-20s 800m and made the final, finishing a very credible sixth in a strong field.

Oscar Logan narrowly missed out on the under-20 men’s 800m final.
