Law and District AAC's run up to Christmas is a successful one

With the cross country season well underway, Law and District Athletics Club have been in fine form at a host of events in the run up to Christmas.

First up, three young Law athletes travelled to Liverpool to take part in the 2024 Cross Challenge, in what were very muddy and wet conditions.

U13 Helena Wotherspoon finished in 74th place, U13 Alexander Wotherspoon in an impressive 12th place and U20 Jessica Inglis in 52nd place.

On the other side of the world, U23 Leah Keisler competed in the NCAA National Division 2 Cross Country Championships in Sacramento, USA. Leah ran 21.05mins for the 6k course finishing 20th (out of 260). Leah placed second for her team (CSU Pueblo) and they finished 3rd overall, which is a great result ahead of the indoor season for Leah in America.

The West District Cross Country Championships were held at Barwood Park, Erskine and Law athletes enjoyed the best success in many years, with several medal wins.

U13 Emily Taylor narrowly missed out on the Championship title by one second, taking silver in the 3.2km race in 8.50mins. Abbie Boyle followed closely behind in 6th, Grace Frood 31st, Helena Wotherspoon 36th, Allyssa Bennet 41st and Nieve Fitzpatrick 77th, with the girls winning silver team medals.

The U13 boys 3.2km race was equally competitive with Alexander Wotherspoon also narrowly missing out on gold by one second, achieving silver in a hard fought out time of 7.51mins.

U15 Lucy Taylor had a superb run in the 4.1k race, winning the silver medal, Olivia Inglis finished 27th, Eilidh Boyle 43rd, Freya Togneri 45th and Molly Baster 46th.

In the U15 boys 4.1k, Cameron Chambers was 8th, Blair Beverley 14th, Jamie Mackie 24th and Declan Hare 33rd, winning team bronze medals.
