Laurence Bassini reveals plan to sign Arsenal wonderkid for Birmingham City

Prospective new Birmingham City owner Laurence Bassini has revealed he is already looking at potential signings for next season.

During his interview with talkSPORT on Wednesday, Bassini claimed £30million will be made available to turn around the club’s fortunes if his takeover goes through. Bassini exchanged contracts over the weekend and says his bid is partly financed by ex-Blues owner David Sullivan - who is currently co-chairman of West Ham United.

The 52-year-old London-based businessman went on to reveal one of his transfer targets during the interview with Jim White and Simon Jordan. “I am also looking at a player right now, Kido Taylor, who is at Arsenal,” he said.

Kido Taylor-Hart, 19, signed his first professional contract with Arsenal last year after rising through the ranks at their academy. Taylor-Hart is a forward who has endured a largely frustrating 12 months due to injury, but he now wants to sample life away from Arsenal.

"I want to go on loan," he told Football.London. "I think that will help me, rather than staying with the under-23s. I know for some people it’s better to stay but for me anyways I think that will help me grow. I think that would be better for me. It’s men’s football. I think it can teach you some things that the under-23s can’t teach you."
