Lauren Hemp: Who is the Lionesses' star set to shine at Euro 2022?

Lauren Hemp has been touted by some as a future Ballon d’Or winner, but how much do you know about the Lionesses’ new superstar. 

As Euro 2022 nears, Hemp has firmly established herself as an integral member of Sarina Wiegman’s England side 

The skilful winger has made almost 20 appearances for her country already and at just 21 years of age, there are plenty more to come. 

Here’s a profile on the England star, who is set to take this summer by storm: 

Hemp grew up in North Walsham in Norfolk and her youth career began at Norwich City in 2008.

Her sister, Amy, also played and the two used to compete against each other in their own backyard. 

The forward played for the Canaries up until 2015, before joining Bristol City.

In September 2016, she made her debut for the Vixens and scored in the team’s 4-1 win over Watford. 

Over the next couple of seasons, Hemp shone for Bristol and was named the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year in 2018. 

Shortly after, the winger was picked up by Manchester City, where she has remained ever since. 

Hemp is blessed with a natural tendency to run at players and has a remarkable ability to fashion chances out of nothing. 

A creative, direct, and skilful winger, the 21-year-old has an extensive highlight reel, consisting of mazy runs and dazzling footwork. 

Last season in the WSL, Hemp scored 10 goals and registered six assists. 

While her current numbers are far from underwhelming, the English forward will be keen to add more goal contributions to her repertoire. 

Since joining City, Hemp has won the FA Women’s Cup in 2020 and starred in last season’s League Cup victory.
