Laura Whitmore shares heartbreaking final messages from Caroline Flack five years after death

Laura Whitmore has shared the final text messages between herself and Caroline Flack on the anniversary of her tragic death.

The former Love Island host took to Instagram on Saturday (February 15) to share a heartfelt post dedicated to her friend, who died on 15 February, 2020.

Laura, who took over hosting the ITV2 dating show from Caroline in 2020, chose to share the messages to mark the fifth anniversary of Caroline's death.

Caroline sadly took her own life aged 40 shortly after she learnt her criminal trial for allegedly assaulting her then-boyfriend, Lewis Burton, was going ahead.

The TV host stepped down from presenting Love Island in December 2019, with Laura then announced as her replacement for the first winter series. Caroline had publicly shown that she was in full support of Laura replacing her.

Now, Laura, 39, who also stepped down as host from Love Island in 22 and was replaced by Maya Jama, has revealed her last conversation with Caroline where they discussed her role.

Sharing screenshots of the messages with her 1.4 million followers, Laura wrote: "I got a new phone this month and as I was trying to download WhatsApp messages from my cloud loads of old messages came up. Ones I thought I lost a few years ago and no longer had. It really hit me hard.

"Looking at messages I’ve never publicly shared as they were private messages. Media outlets wrote a lot far from the actual truth. I think they show a side to Caroline which is nice to remember. Hence I’m sharing now.

"She wasn’t perfect and I didn’t know her as well as others but I knew she had her demons. I met Caroline in 2011 when I took over from her hosting I’m a celebrity get me out of here now. She was as supportive of me doing that role back then
