Laura Hayes hopeful fresh approach will work for Cork

Cork will be hoping for a better return than their last visit to Croke Park when they take on Galway in this Saturday's Littlewoods Ireland League Division 1 final (Live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player).

The Tribeswomen emerged victorious by three points in last September's All-Ireland final, but there's one big difference to the Rebels side heading to Dublin.

Matthew Twomey is the new manager, replacing Paudie Murray, with former All-Ireland hurling winner with Clare Davy Fitzgerald as one of his selectors.

"It's great for camogie in general to have such a big, public figure in charge of us," player Laura Hayes says of the ex-Waterford, Clare and Wexford hurling manager.

"He's brilliant and he puts everything into it. He mightn't come across that way but every night he's on to Matthew planning.

"Paudie built a base for us, and we haven't left that totally. Davy is bringing in what he believes in, and it's a mixture of both [styles of play].

"One thing Davy has taught us really is to enjoy the occasion. There's a lot of worse things happening out there and we're playing our hobby.

"He wants us to express ourselves, so there's no pressure."

Last year's All-Ireland final appearance was a first for Cork in three years, having been dominant in the middle of the last decade when they claimed five titles in seven years, appearing in six finals in a row.

The disappointment of the defeat was massive for Hayes, who is hoping that can help to drive the squad on in 2022.

"After the final the last few months have been tough," she admits.

"We were extremely disappointed losing to Galway and we went back to our clubs and tried to pick ourselves up again.

"We were really eager to get back to training and we haven't lost any hunger. We've been training a
