Latest reports: Sky Sports say Newcastle now interested in signing 'insane' colossus this summer

Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle United are now ‘interested’ in signing Dean Henderson this summer.

Given that he has only played in three senior games for Manchester United so far this season, Henderson will likely want to leave Old Trafford in the summer, especially given that he failed to make the latest England squad for their friendly matches against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

Fraser Forster was drafted in for the injured Aaron Ramsdale, suggesting that Henderson is further down the pecking order for Gareth Southgate, and so given that it is a World Cup year, the 25-year-old will surely need to move on and test his mettle with regular playing time.

Sky Sports are saying that ‘latest reports’ are suggesting that the St. James’ Park faithful are now ‘interested’ in signing Henderson.

He is ‘expected’ to leave the Red Devils, after failing to take over from David de Gea as the number one goalkeeper.

The North East club should not be put off Henderson’s lack of game time, and instead should look to make them their number one.

Once described as ‘insane‘ and ‘exceptional‘ by former teammate at Sheffield United Sander Berge, he was especially impressive on loan with the Blades, where he helped them get promoted up to the Premier League before keeping 13 clean sheets in his first top flight campaign.

His performances earned rave reviews, causing a debate over whether he should have even displaced de Gea as the number one at Man Utd.

It has not quite worked out that way though, and so the six-foot-two colossus could now find his home on Tyneside, where Martin Dubravka will turn 34 mid-way through next season.
