Late Krezic strike enough for Cork City

A dramatic final ten minutes at Turners Cross saw Cork City continue their good recent form as they got the better of Bohemians, winning 2-1.

After Adam McDonnell equalised for Bohemians in the 84th minute, City scored within 30 seconds of the restart through Daniel Krezic and that was the difference as the Rebel Army beat their Dublin rivals.

All of the action followed Matt Healy’s opener at the Shed End in the 73rd minute.

There were very few chances in the opening 15 minutes, with the only meaningful opportunity being a Kris Twardek header that went wide at the back post.

City came through this period and won a corner, and Healy’s ball went to John O’Donovan. The defender went for goal and James Talbot instantly reacted to stop this.

Ruairi Keating then picked the pocket of Keith Buckley and played Tunde Owolabi through. The striker got surrounded by four defenders and his shot went out for a goal kick.

James Clarke ended the half by going for goal inside the area and Jimmy Corcoran easily saved this.

Bohemians picked themselves up after the break and a low cross from Twardek found Buckley on the edge of the area. The captain tried to score on the volley but mis-controlled and Kevin Custovic got in the way of this for City.

The Gypsies saw a lot more of the ball in the second half as they attacked the St Anne’s End. Once City came through this spell, Josh Honohan saw a header saved by Talbot. This was the start of a burst of chances, with the best one coming from a Gordon Walker cross that Keating stabbed wide.

Declan Devine brought on Declan McDaid midway through the second half, and his real first involvement was a shot that bobbed centimetres wide.

City went up the pitch after this and an attempt by Walker almost went out
