Late arrivals Biotherm win In-Port Race at The Ocean Race 2022-23 in Aarhus, Holcim-PRB take second

Biotherm won the In-Port Race at Aarhus on Sunday afternoon at The Ocean Race 2022-23. It was a huge victory for Biotherm as they only arrived in Denmark on Saturday night for the event after a difficult Leg 5 of the main competition from Newport, Rhode Island. Ad Before the race kicked off, 11th Hour Racing Team were top of the overall IMOCA standings on 28 points, followed by Team Holcim-PRB on 27 and Team Malizia with 24.

The breeze at the start of the race was touching 10 knots, giving steady conditions for the teams to negotiate the rectangular race course. Biotherm timed their approach well and hit the line at pace, taking the initial advantage.

The teams quickly slotted into the positions they would finish: Biotherm leading, then Team Holcim-PRB, followed by 11th Hour Racing and Team Malizia. On Leg 3 Biotherm stretched their lead and continued to do so for much of the rest of the race. After the three laps, second place in Denmark went to Holcim-PRB, with 11th Hour Racing Team in third.

Team Malizia were fourth. «We won the start and when you win the start in an In-Port Race it's easy after,» Paul Meilhat said after the race. We were a bit faster off the line than Team Holcim-PRB and that was it.
