Larkhall Harriers claim titles and PBs in Glasgow events

Larkhall YMCA Harriers athletes recorded some good results and several personal best times at the Glasgow Athletics Association (GAA) Sprint Gala at Crownpoint in Glasgow.

Under-15 athlete Sophie Brennan finished first in 100m in 15.19, and seventh in 150m in 23.16, setting new PBs. Lucy Thomson set a new record in under-13 150m in 24.44, while under-15 athlete Lily Cuthbertson finished second in 100m with a PB of 15.46.

Under-13 Sam Thomson clocked 15.69 in his 100m, setting a PB, while Laci McNulty at under-15 set a new PB of 47.88 in 300m, despite falling while in second place. Emily Thomson (U15) set new PB times of 14.22 and 49.44, respectively, in 100m and 300m. Emma Dooey also set new PBs in 100m and 150m in 16.32 and 25.89 at under-13 level.

Under-17 athlete Rhys Thomson set a new PB of 12.96 in 100m, while Ross Kinkade set new times of 12.58 and 18.88 in under-15 100m and 150m. Nathan Dooey at under-23 level finished first in 100m and 300m, setting new times of 13.08 and 41.38. Under-13 runner Michael Marden was the only athlete not to set a PB, but went close in 150m and 75m hurdles, finishing in 24.04 and 16.31.

Meanwhile, at the GAA Under-12s fun day, younger athletes got to run on the newly-resurfaced track at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, following the recent Indoor World Championships.

Emma Dooey, George Brown, Michael Marden, Drew Reid, Freya-May Gilroy and Elif Oymak all took part in sprints, jumps and throws, gaining experience in a low pressure environment.

Larkhall’s mini and junior Harriers were also in action at the Springburn Harriers Junior Jack races in Kirkintilloch. In the pre-school girls’ race, Hollie Zokas finished second to earn her first ever podium spot. In the P1 and 2 girls’ race,
