Lanark United relishing Drumchapel United challenge after 'mixed feelings' on Glasgow Perthshire draw

Lanark United co-boss Simon Eeles is looking forward to seeing his side tackle some of the bigger teams like Drumchapel United.

But he felt United should have taken more than a draw against Glasgow Perthshire at Carluke’s John Cumming Stadium in the West of Scotland League Conference C on Saturday.

United then face Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in the West of Scotland League Cup the following week, and Eeles says those games will tell him a lot about his players.

He said: “Saturday is a really good game for us, Drumchapel are a good side, they’ve got lots of quality in their team and they’ve done well this season.

“It’s a good test for the boys, and then we’ve got Rob Roy in the ‘West’ the week after, so two really good games coming up.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing the boys going at it against good sides.”

On Saturday’s draw, Eeles said: “I’ve got mixed feelings, I felt we should have gone on to win the game. In the second half we had a lot of the ball without maybe creating enough chances.

“Right at the death they’ve hit the post and it has come out, so you kind of feel fortunate to have taken a point in the end, because it was the last kick of the ball.

“The general performance was good, but I felt we could have maybe sneaked the three points.”
