Lampard: Everton must use facing ‘strongest team’ Liverpool as ‘positive’

Everton boss Frank Lampard has insisted his side must use the fact they are facing one of the best teams as a positive when they face Liverpool.

The 240th Merseyside derby will take place on Sunday and sees two teams at different ends of the table face off.

Big Weekend: Arsenal v Man Utd, Merseyside derby, Eriksen

Jurgen Klopp’s side have won 11 out of their last 12 in the Premier league and are just a point behind Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Everton, on the other hand, are just a point above Burnley in the relegation fight, and could be in the bottom three by the time Sunday’s game kicks off.

The game will be Lampard’s first Merseyside derby in charge of the Toffees and the ex-Chelsea boss has urged his side to use the fact that they are playing one of the most in-form teams as a positive.

“You can’t always control the result. This game brings a different energy to it. I expect passion, fight and desire. There’s not a game plan in the world that will work without that.”
