Lagos to hold Zen Archery Open Championship May 9

Over 100 archers are expected at the Lagos Open Archery Championship being put together by Zen Archery, in collaboration with the Lagos State Archery Association, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on March 9 and 10, 2024, the association has said.

According to the head of Zen Archery, Emmanuel Oyeleke, said the championship will feature different categories, including Compound, Recurve, and Barebow, with the participants coming from across the country.

Oyeleke, a national archery champion, said the championship is the inaugural archers’ ranking/ratings database event by Zen Archery, which promises a fiercely contested tournament with enticing cash prizes for participants.

He said the championship would beyond sport celebrate discipline, focus and the country’s cultural heritage, noting that it underscores the importance of driving inclusion across a wide range of sporting events in Nigeria.

Also speaking on the event, Head, Brand and Comms at The Grid Management, Dapo Akintoye, said the championship highlights the significance of supporting youth development and sports in Nigeria.

Akintoye said events like the Zen Archery Lagos Open Championship play crucial roles in nurturing talent and providing platforms for athletes to excel.
