Lage gutted, Neves has second thoughts: Another Wolves rumour - opinion
The Athletic have claimed that Max Kilman is on the radar of Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window.
Max Kilman has reportedly been linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Newcastle United ahead of what is expected to be a busy transfer window for the Magpies. Wolves defender Conor Coady has also been linked with a move to St James’s Park.
Kilman is currently enduring in his first full season of regular first-team football for Wolves, he has made 30 appearances in the Premier League, whilst his most featured season before this in the Premier League at Molineux was last season with 18 appearances.
Wolves have been strong at the back this season, whilst conceding just 32 goals, meaning that only the top three sides have conceded less than them.
With the potential move to St James’s Park for Kilman, we noted two knock-on effects for Wolves if he was to join.
Bruno Lage will be gutted
Max Kilman has been impressive in terms of stats this season for Wolves, in the Premier League, he has the fifth-highest average player rating (7.03), he makes the fourth most amount of interceptions on average per game (1.5), and the third amount of clearances on average per game (3.5), as per Sofascore.
Wolves have been excellent at the back this season but struggled in front of goal, only three sides have scored less than their 33 goals. So, it would be a big loss for Bruno Lage if he was to lose one of his star defenders in the summer because then they would be arguably short at both ends of the pitch, meaning they will have to invest heavily in the summer.
The final straw for Ruben Neves
Ruben Neves has been heavily linked with a move away from Molineux in the summer transfer window, with Arsenal and Manchester
