Lage can land Wolves their own Wilfried Zaha with swoop for “extraordinary” £8.5m gem – opinion

Wolves can land their very own Wilfried Zaha with a move for Barcelona youngster Ez Abde as Bruno Lage looks to rebuild his squad.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Sport, the Old Gold are keen on signing the 20-year-old from the La Liga giants this summer, despite assurances that he will be part of their squad going forward, with Leeds also interested.

Roma have reportedly prepared a bid of €10m (£8.5m) for Abde, an amount which would be more than affordable for Wolves.

Wolves finished 10th in the Premier League this season, with Lage having a solid if unspectacular first campaign at the Molineux helm.

Goalscoring was a real concern during 2021/22, as the Old Gold only netted 38 times in as many league matches, so the onus is for Lage to bolster his attacking options over the summer.

Although only 20, Abde looks like a remarkable talent, with Barcelona coach Xavi dubbing him “extraordinary”, and he could well have a very bright future ahead.

Wolves could have their very own Wilfried Zaha if they sign the Barcelona youngster, with the two players adopting similar styles of play. Both have fantastic dribbling ability and sprint speed which enables them to regularly beat defenders.

Zaha and Abde both thrive on crosses and provide opportunities for team-mates in the penalty box. The Palace forward made 49 crosses in 33 Premier League matches this season, whereas the 20-year-old put in 21 crosses during only ten La Liga matches.

The comparisons to the Ivory Coast winger indicate that Abde could settle well in the Premier League, but with Wolves requiring a proven goal scorer, might it be too soon for a move to England yet?
