La Liga tell Barcelona they must sell Frenkie de Jong and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Barcelona have reportedly been told by La Liga they must sell players in order to register their five new signings.

It is claimed that Barcelona's wage bill and debts are still too high for La Liga to allow them to register Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen and Raphinha, as well as Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto, who re-signed with Barcelona this summer after their previous contracts with the club expired.

It is reported that Barca chief Joan Laporta was hopeful the recent sale of a percentage of the club's TV rights would ease their financial problems enough for them to be able to register their new players in time for the new La Liga season. According to Spanish outlet Sport, though, Barcelona have been told they must still sell players to ease their problems, with De Jong the most valuable player who could leave, and the wheels could be put in motion from next week.

Meanhile, United will reportedly face competition for the signature of Benjamin Sesko.

The RB Salzburg man broke onto the scene last season and has already scored two goals and grabbed an assist in just three appearances this campaign. He also impressed in pre-season against Liverpool and they are one of the teams eyeing a move for the teenager, according to AS.

French giants PSG are also thought to be interested in Sesko. United are keen on signing the Slovenian with some reports suggesting that 'a concrete offer' was made by the Reds yesterday.
