Kylian Mbappe transfer fury spills over as Real Madrid and PSG caught in crosshairs of livid league chiefs

Seething Ligue 1 chief Vincent Labrune has launched a full blown attack on his La Liga counterpart over his "disrespectful smears" in the wake of Kylian Mbappe's decision to stick Paris Saint-Germain.

Javier Tebas caused consternation within French football when he claimed Paris Saint-Germain chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi is "as dangerous as the Super League".

That jibe in the wake of Mbappe saying no to Real Madrid, plus claims over how the Qatari-backed club are paying the world superstar's £1m-per-week wages has led to a furious response.

Tebas sounded off on social media earlier in the week as a protracted switch to Los Blancos collapsed after the player was convinced to say with his current employers.

And now Labrune has let rip at his opposition as an uncivil war looks set to break out between the two leagues – who have previously clashed in the wake of Neymar's world record transfer to Paris in 2017.

He said: "It is difficult to follow the factual substance of your letter and what relevance the renewal of a player's contract with a club in another league has to LaLiga.

"Your attacks on Ligue 1 and one of our clubs Paris St Germain and one of our players Kylian Mbappe are based around your own interpretation of financial unsustainability and competitive imbalance, which you repeatedly attribute to Ligue 1 and one of our clubs.

"The fact that you publicly and repeatedly take this position against Ligue 1 on this topic and denigrate our League and our clubs is both unacceptable and manifestly false."

And Labrune went further as he took personal issue with Tebas over his snipes in relation to the Mbappe transfer, which followed on from vocal criticism of the decision of both Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi to leave
