Kylian Mbappe sets up Neymar with piece of brilliance in Lille vs PSG

The ‘feud’ between Kylian Mbappe and Neymar has been well documented over the past week or so.

It all came to light during Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-2 victory against Montpellier last week.

Mbappe cut a frustrated figure throughout the match.

His mood wasn’t helped when he missed an early penalty. When PSG got a second spot-kick in the match, Mbappe tried to take the ball off Neymar and take it himself.

Neymar refused to relent and ended up taking the penalty. He went on to dispatch it with aplomb.

Many reports followed in the next few days claiming that there was a rift between the pair.

But they made a mockery of those negative reports in PSG’s Ligue 1 clash against Lille on Sunday evening.

Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi were all in the starting lineup for the match at Stade Pierre Mauroy.

And the trio ran riot in a dominant first-half. Mbappe opened the scoring after just eight seconds.

Further goals from Messi, Achraf Hakimi and Neymar gave PSG a 4-0 lead at half-time.

It didn’t take long for PSG to extend their advantage after the break – and it came after a piece of brilliance from Mbappe.

Hakimi found Mbappe in the box and he had a clear shot on goal. However, instead of shooting, the 23-year-old pulled off a brilliant feint and allowed the ball to roll to Neymar.

The Brazilian then found the back of the net to score his second of the game.

Neymar recognised Mbappe’s brilliance and ran straight to his teammate. Both had a beaming smile on their face as they celebrated together.
