Kyle Walker 'set for new contract to ward off Bayern Munich' and more Man City transfer rumours

Manchester City could offer Kyle Walker a new two-year contract to stay at the Treble winners and ward off any interest this summer from Bayern Munich.

The 33-year-old has been a hugely successful signing for City since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017. The latest campaign saw Walker play a part in the club's historic Treble achievement.

The 33-year-old has more than 250 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side and six goals for the club. The former Sheffield United man has won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups and the Champions League during a trophy-laden spell.

Walker has a year to go on his current City deal. As things stand, this summer presents the last chance City have to obtain a sizable transfer fee or the right-back would be free to leave to nothing 12 months from now.

Bayern Munich have been credited with having an interest in potentially bringing the experienced defender to the Allianz Arena this summer. However, City could have a plan to try and ward off interest from the German giants in Walker.

According to the Daily Telegraph, City are prepared to offer Walker a new two-year deal to stay at the Etihad Stadium. If the defender signs, it could see him recommit his future to the club and reduce the prospect of a switch to Bavaria this summer.

Elsewhere, Leciester City under new boss Enzo Maresca are "eyeing" 19-year-old Northern Ireland international midfielder Shea Charles, according to the Belfast Telegraph. Charles was handed his City debut at the end of last season, coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Brentford.
