Kyle Walker injury news - Man City vs Arsenal latest, England statement, Vinicius Jr message

Manchester City have been handed a new injury worry ahead of the Premier League title race after Kyle Walker withdrew from international duty with England.

The Three Lions released a statement on Monday confirming they have moved to replace the 33-year-old with City teammate Rico Lewis - who has been promoted from Lee Carsley's Under-21s. Lewis will be looking to add to his one England cap, after making his debut against North Macedonia last November.

As well as Walker, Gareth Southgate has been dealt a triple blow after the withdrawal of Sam Johnstone and Harry Maguire, allowing former City academy product James Trafford to earn a maiden senior call-up.

An injury to the City captain couldn't come at a worse period as their Premier League campaign resumes on Sunday when they face Arsenal in a Premier League title showdown. Lewis could replace Walker in the City team, while Manuel Akanji and John Stones have both played right full-back previously in their careers.

Walker provided an injury scare early on in the first-half of their 1-0 defeat at home to Brazil on Saturday. It was a momentous evening for the 33-year-old after being handed the captain's armband in his 82nd cap for the Three Lions.

Moments after running back to clear off the line to deny Vinicius Jr, Walker suffered an injury problem. It appeared that the issue was with his hamstring and despite receiving treatment away from the field of play, he tried to continue.

However, his return lasted all but seven minutes as he was replaced by Ezri Konsa - handing Maguire the armband.
