Kyle Walker fears Pep Guardiola has not forgiven him for Man City red card

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker believes that Pep Guardiola still hasn't forgiven him for his red card in the final Champions League group stage defeat to RB Leipzig.

The Blues had already booked their place in the knockout phase by the time they travelled for their behind-closed-doors clash with Die Roten Bullen. Walker was shown a straight red card for a kick out at Andre Silva and was ultimately banned for three matches.

His suspension saw him miss not only their two legs against Sporting but also saw Guardiola drop him for subsequent domestic games A belated appeal failed, with UEFA upholding the three-game ban, much to Guardiola's frustration.

Asked if Guardiola had forgiven him for the sending-off, Walker told BBC 5Live: "I don't think so no, I love him to bits but I don't think so. It was stupid from me, I know it was a rush of blood and frustration, I don't know on my levels or expectations of myself.

"As a team I didn't think we were playing too well, we was getting counter-attacked a lot on that game, they were making big runs through the centre and Kevin de Bruyne. I had to stop counter-attacks, when I'm running back all the time and trying to do it, it's hard.

"It's much easier running forward easier, although I tend to run backwards a lot quicker than forwards. I was frustrated, it was stupid from me and I could've cost the team something spectacular, the lads took care of business against Sporting. Luckily, I've got one more game to serve and I'm back for that."
