Kris Boyd hit with on air Celtic fan abuse but Rangers hero gets the last word with loaded 'happy people' dig
Grinning Kris Boyd clapped back at Celtic fans who gave the Rangers hero stick after late drama in the win over Motherwell.
Going into the closing stages of the Scottish Premiership showdown, it looked like Brendan Rodgers' side were set to drop more points in their bid to defend the title. The game was poised at 1-1 going into injury time - before Adam Idah netted his second of the game and Luis Palma put the clash out of reach of the Steelmen at Fir Park.
That sparked jubilant scenes in the away end - which is just behind the Sky Sports cameras where Boyd was working on punditry duties. Following the full-time whistle the TV coverage cut back to studio anchor Eilidh Barbour in the gantry with Boyd, James McFadden and ex Hoops defender Charlie Mulgrew discussing the flying finale in Lanarkshire. However, stick from the Celtic end aimed at the ex-Ibrox striker was clearly picked up by microphones.
While the panel attempted to tune out the tirade as fellow pundit McFadden tried to make a point on the game, Boyd couldn't resist firing back at the goading punters. He was quick to point out what the result meant for the league table.
Rangers moved five points clear on Saturday with a 5-0 rout of Hearts. Boyd quipped: "There is a few happy people for cutting a five point gap at the top down to two."
